April Ross

April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during more than one Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll be aiming to win her third gold medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last chance to take home the gold medal at an Olympics. However, she is convinced of winning top awards. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well I believe we can get the gold medal." In addition, I'll try the chance to have luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents there. She went on to compete in numerous activities at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to the indoor game, she also was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. Though she excelled when playing indoors however, it was evident that her abilities were higher than normal. Based on her bio, she played a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player throughout her time in high school. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles from 2017. The reality is that Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. In fact, she's won numerous events, and one was won by a legendary volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Along with Kessy, Ross won a World Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. They took home a Silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold beating them to it. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from high school. The time she spent at USC was one to remember. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss during her sophomore year, but was still capable of achieving the All-American award. In her last two years she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. In 2003-04, Ross was named the best collegiate female volleyball player in America according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch her daughter grow into an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her, both in and out of the water.
